Great Places To Eat! - Lake Charles, La

Last month I traveled to Lake Charles to interview an engineer for a job at L&W.  He lived in Lake Charles so he set up a lunch meeting for us at Pujo St. Cafe, in downtown Lake Charles.

Now in my 40+ years of running the roads between New Orleans, Lafayette, and Houston I have traveled through Lake Charles at least 100 times and never ventured into the downtown area.  What a pleasant surprise I found in downtown Lake Charles at the Pujo St. Cafe.  The food, atmosphere, and service at Pujo's is worth the drive.  If you are passing through anyway and its around lunch or dinner, skip the fast food places on I-10 and venture downtown for a great experience.

Breakfast in Phoenix

Looking for a great place to have breakfast in Phoenix, drop by the Matt's Big Breakfast.  Great food, great service, short walk from most downtown hotels and the Convention Center.  Be sure to get some of the thick cut bacon.

Want some great Food, Huge Beer Selection & Great Service in Delaware?

Last week I was in Newark, Delaware visiting one of our large utility clients.  The client and I decided to get a quick bite to eat before our 1:00 PM meeting.  He introduced me to a local Beer Pub not far from their office.  Two Stones run by Michael "Stigz" Stiglitz is in a corner strip center just next to a convenience store.  It is a place I would have never gone into if I were "looking" for a good place to eat but this customer, who has become a good friend, said "trust me Marc".  So we went in and had an awesome meal.  Now I am not a beer drinker but if you are, Two Stones has what the aficionados tell me is a world class selection of beers from around the area and the world.  However what happened to impress me on this visit was the chicken and sausage gumbo.  And while I have no clue what a good beer, or bad beer for that matter, tastes like (they all taste nasty to me), I do consider myself to be a gumbo connoisseur and the Two Stones gumbo rates right up there with my Uncle Clearance's High Island, Tx fish camp gumbo.

Great place to eat, great food, great service and worth the visit for lunch or diner the next time you find yourself in Newark, DE.  If you stop in tell them I sent you, I am sure that they will not charge you more than list price for anything because you know me.

Great Places to Eat - Po Melvin's - Dallas

When you find yourself in Irving, Tx just east of DFW airport and you are hankering for some really good "down home" cooking, like your grandma used to fix for you, go to Po Melvins, you can thank me later.  Don't pass up the desert!

When in London

If you find yourself in London, anywhere near Marble Arch and you are looking for an exceptional place to have dinner, head over to Saddlers.

The General Manager Luke Robb is a great host and the food was the best my wife and I could find in our recent trip to the UK.  Like many really good food places, Saddlers is a bit out of the way, frequented mostly by locals, but the service and the food are exceptional.  I wouldn't fly to London/Mayfair to eat there, but when I am in London you can rest assured I will return.

BTW their web site accurately depicts the atmosphere and the menu.  Click here to visit their site.

Enjoy!

Cafe Mozart - San Francisco

Almost 20 years ago I was introduced to the Cafe Mozart by a great friend in the wireless industry, Chris Gillespie, the founder of the engineering firm Gillespie, Prudhon and Associates. Sue Ann (my wife) and I were in town for a short vacation with our three kids (Jim, Melissa and Lauren) right before I headed out to Saudi Arabia for an extended business trip working for Aramco.

Chris graciously took Sue Ann and I out to his favorite place in the Nob Hill area of San Francisco, Cafe Mozart. It was a treat that Sue Ann and I talk about often. An outstanding quaint restaurant at 708 Bush Street. The food was unsurpassed and the atmosphere was quiet and serene. If you find yourself in San Francisco plan to spend an evening with a client or your best friend at Cafe Mozart.

I give Cafe Mozart the Country Boy from Texas FIVE STAR rating.
